Pat Day
b. October 13, 1953

Colorado native and Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day began his career as a rodeo cowboy but was urged to become a jockey because of his 4'11” height and 100 lb weight.

The highlight of Pat Day's storied career was his 1992 Kentucky Derby victory aboard Lil E. Tee. He has also won three Belmont Stakes (1989, 1994, 2000). Day is the only rider to win three consecutive Preakness Stakes and has won that title a total of five times (1985, 1990, 1994-1996). He is also the only jockey to have ridden at least one mount in each of the first 20 Breeders' Cups and ranks second all-time among Breeders' Cup winners with 12 victories.

Day is a four-time winner of the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey and was inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in 1991. He also received the George Woolf Award in 1985.

Pat Day retired in 2006 with 8,803 career victories, fourth on the all-time win list, and holds the record for earnings. After overcoming drug and alcohol abuse early in his career, Day became a devout Christian and now acts as the official spokesman to the racing industry for the Racetrack Chaplaincy of America.

Day lives in Crestwood, Kentucky with his wife Sheila and daughter Irene.
